Term 2
The Big Idea
How has exploring Impacted the world we live in today?
Turner Gallery Trip
Loyalty Class visited the Turner Museum last week! After standing where Turner may have stood before at the seafront, we created our own pictures of the elements. The children used charcoal and paint to create our very own art masterpiece! After this we explored the museum looking at different types of art!
Learning Lift off
We became explorers walking to Whinless Down! Hoping to discover parts never seen before! We earned puzzle pieces as we explored and when we had finished put the pieces together and discovered they made different explorers like Neil Armstrong and Matthew Hansen who we had learnt all about for Black History month!
Explorers that came before us
We have learnt how Christopher Columbus discovered the Americas by landing in the Bahamas by accident when travelling to Asia. It was then time to turn our classroom into a court room! We had one side arguing that Columbus was good as he had discovered new lands and fruits whilst the other side argued he stole from the local people and took slaves. Both sides gave great arguments. In English we wrote a letter imagining we were Christopher Columbus writing to his wife telling her all about the discoveries made!
Show us your spots!
For Children in Need, we dressed in spotty clothes and did a fun run we did really well never giving up!
Maths
Maths this term is all about adding and subtracting and we have been doing some really tricky stuff! We have been exchanging ones for tens which has taken lots of practice.
